Terms of use

Status of these terms

This draft is prepared for Moonfold's planned private macOS beta. Final terms should be presented to beta participants before they install or use a distributed build. No company, jurisdiction, or physical address is stated here because those details have not been finalized.

Private beta access

Moonfold is pre-release software. Access may be limited to invited participants, specific macOS versions, or a limited testing period. Features may be incomplete, change, stop working, or be removed before release.

Google Calendar access may be unavailable or limited until production OAuth review is complete. A beta invitation does not guarantee continued access, a release date, future pricing, or inclusion of any particular feature.

Limited license

Subject to the final effective terms, Moonfold is intended to grant each beta participant a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to install and use the beta for personal testing and feedback. The software is licensed, not sold.

Moonfold's software, product design, site, copy, and brand remain protected to the extent available under applicable law. The beta does not grant rights to redistribute builds, remove notices, or present Moonfold as your own product.

Your content and backups

You keep your rights in the tasks, projects, notes, files, and other content you put into Moonfold. You are responsible for having the right to use that content and for keeping backups appropriate to its importance.

Moonfold is local-first and does not currently provide a cloud recovery service. Uninstalling the app, deleting its workspace, losing the Mac, or losing local backups may make content unrecoverable.

Acceptable use

You may not use the beta to:

  • break the law or violate another person's rights;
  • interfere with security, authorization, or service limits;
  • distribute malware or use Moonfold to harm a person, device, or service;
  • misrepresent your access, identity, affiliation, or rights; or
  • redistribute a private build without permission.

Reverse engineering rights provided by applicable law are not restricted by this draft where they cannot legally be restricted.

Third-party services

Moonfold may interact with Google Calendar, macOS, Apple distribution services, websites, or files you choose. Your use of those services is also governed by their terms and privacy practices. Moonfold does not control their availability or changes.

Availability and changes

Beta access may be paused, changed, or ended to protect users, respond to platform requirements, address security or reliability issues, or prepare a new release. Reasonable notice should be given when practical, but urgent fixes may require immediate action.

Beta disclaimers

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the beta is provided “as is” and “as available,” without a promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for a particular purpose. Do not use a pre-release build as the only copy of critical information.

Any limitation of liability in final terms must be reviewed for the law that applies to the beta participant. Nothing in the final terms should exclude rights or liability that cannot legally be excluded.

Ending use

You may stop using the beta at any time. Before removing it, export or back up any content you want to keep. Disconnect Google Calendar if you want Moonfold to request token revocation and clear its local Google cache.

Changes and contact

Final effective terms may change as beta distribution, ownership, pricing, and jurisdiction are established. Material changes should be dated and shown before they apply to continued beta use.
